BESS - Portfolio
Rison operates a portfolio of BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) across the Nordics. Our model secures financing for the systems without requiring the client to give up equity. Instead, we lease out the batteries under fair and predictable long-term terms, providing access to energy storage without capital strain.
Financing a new Energy System
Rison and SEB Nordic Energy creates an opportunity for Real-Estate owners and Energy Storage Farms to get access to BESS-systems through a long-term renting model.
The portfolio lets investors gain long term annual returns with collateral in both the batteries, farms and the counterparty.
How the set-up works
The core idea is simple: we own the batteries and rent them out to end users through long-term lease agreements. By purchasing the batteries and placing them in a dedicated AssetCo, we enable a model where clients pay a fixed annual fee for full access to the batteries, while still retaining all revenue generated from their use.
Because we partner with large institutional funds focused on green investments, we can offer highly competitive financing terms.
Market Outlook:
The future of BESS
BESS in the Nordics is currently heavily focused on battery farms. However, the market is expected to shift toward a model where BESS systems are placed “behind the meter,” primarily for self-consumption. By owning and operating the systems at these farms, we are laying the groundwork for a future where real estate owners can rent battery capacity as needed, and only when it is profitable to do so.
Benefits for the Client
Wheter you are a Battery farm developer or a Real-estate owner, wiorking woth Rison has a few main benefits:
Radically reduced Capex requirements
We take on the majority of the investment, structuring it on terms optimized for the end user who will operate the system.
Quality and ESG Compliance assured
Our close collaboration with green funds has given us deep expertise in ESG compliance. Partnering with us gives you direct access to that know-how, ensuring your energy investments meet the highest environmental and governance standards.
Lower Risk and Higher Return
By offloading a significant portion of the financing, the project’s P&L benefits from a more predictable cost structure and improved returns on invested capital.
Possibility to rent out systems not in use
For clients we offer to relocate batteries on a temporary or permanent basis before us buying new systems. The is a large risk-mitigator for all clients.
If you are looking for a strong financial partner for your Energy Storage projects:
Project in Focus: Varberg-Skällinge 2:2
Rison has financed the batteries and associated hardware systems for a mid-sized energy storage farm outside Varberg, Sweden.
Through SEB Nordic Energy, we have covered approximately 70% of the project’s capex without taking any equity in the asset. This allows the developer to focus on operations while putting less of their own capital at risk.

BESS - Portfolio
Rison Nordic Energy, provides battery farms and real estate owners with long-term financing for BESS hardware. By placing capital-intensive energy storage assets within our portfolio structure, counterparties can secure a stronger capital cost base, achieve higher ROI, and reduce overall risk.

Heating and Solar for New Buildings
As a financing partner, we enable developers and real estate investors to offload a significant share of energy system investments when constructing new properties. Our portfolio provides a flexible option to secure a high energy rating, without increasing the overall project budget.

LED-lighting in public schools
Our LED portfolio enables organisations to transition to energy-efficient lighting without requiring their own investment. We leverage institutional capital, such as pension funds, to finance, maintain, and operate the systems, ensuring that total costs remain lower than the energy savings achieved.
